A 51-year-old Napavine woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash on northbound Interstate 5 in Centralia on Monday.

The crash occurred when a 2015 blue Buick LaCrosse driven by Dale A. Rayburn, 72, of Centralia, was following too closely behind a 2021 Honda HR-V driven by 22-year-old Napavine resident Riley J. Christianson. The Buick crashed into the Honda after the Honda slowed for traffic. The injured Napavine woman, Tina M. Christianson, was a passenger in the Honda.

Both vehicles were getting onto northbound I-5 from Harrison Avenue in Centralia when the crash occurred at about 11:27 a.m. on May 27.

The injured Napavine woman was transferred to Providence Centralia Hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported.

Following too close was the case of the crash, according to the Washington State Patrol, which has determined no drugs or alcohol were involved.

All involved were wearing seat belts.
