New Chehalis Sign Honors Community Service Clubs

A newly installed sign between Callisons and Chamber Way in Chehalis now honors different service clubs dedicated to the community.

The sign was put in place by the Chehalis Community Renaissance Team (CCRT) after the project was first identified in 2019. It includes six logos of clubs in Chehalis: Altrusa, Kiwanis, Optimists, Sertoma, Soroptomists and Rotary.

“In the past there was a service club sign but it was wooden and it was very weathered and the signs for the service clubs were also quite weathered,” CCRT Director Annalee Tobey said in a meeting last week. “We wanted to take the opportunity to clean that area up, I know the city is working really hard on some cleanup in that area as well.”

The new sign was provided at no cost to the clubs. It was erected in partnership with the City of Chehalis’s Parks and Recreation and Wastewater Departments, which provided labor and materials for installation.

The service sign project is part of the CCRT’s focus on community building, economic development, quality design, promotion, and downtown development.

“Our local service clubs work hard to better our community in many different ways.  The former sign was no longer showcasing our clubs as they deserve,” Tobey said in a news release.  “It displays the proud appreciation we all have for the volunteers within these clubs.”
