New evacuations were issued, and existing ones expanded, Friday night for the Little Giant Fire, while a state fire mobilization was authorized Saturday morning.
Level 3 evacuations — go now — were issued for the Entiat Valley, affecting Entiat River Road (Forest Service Road 5100) from Stormy Creek Road (Forest Service Road 5395) to Potato Creek Road (Forest Service Road 5380).

The Little Giant Fire burning in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest has burned about 97,539 acres and is 1% contained, according to the incident update.
Due to the ongoing firefighting efforts for the lightning-caused fire that started on July 15, state fire assistance has been mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan, which officials say is to provide additional support to the 1,700 people already assigned to the blaze.
The state has activated its emergency operations center at Camp Murray to coordinate assistance for the Little Giant Fire, bringing additional state resources into the response as the fire continues to grow.
Four wildland strike teams have been ordered to assist with containment efforts. Personnel from the State Fire Marshal’s Office are coordinating the deployment of resources, with some staff responding in person and others working remotely.
The mobilization is being carried out through the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan, which allows firefighting resources from across the state to be deployed when a fire overwhelms the resources available locally.
The state’s Fire Protection Bureau will oversee the dispatch and administration of the personnel and equipment assigned to the fire throughout the mobilization.
Red flag conditions contributed to increased fire activity in several areas of the Little Giant Fire Friday evening, prompting firefighters and local departments to send additional resources to communities on the south side of the fire to protect structures.
The fire is currently threatening 1,849 structures.
Similar conditions are expected Saturday, with a red flag warning remaining in effect across the fire area until 11 p.m. When conditions allow, helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft will support firefighters on the ground.
On Lake Chelan’s north shore, a spot fire has remained in place as crews continue building fireline around the area. Firefighters are also extending containment lines along Mitchell-Gold Ridge, while a specialized wildfire use module remains on Lake Chelan to help prepare and protect cabins accessible only by boat.
Crews are using boats and helicopters when smoke conditions allow to reach homes and other areas at risk along the lake. Firefighters are also constructing lines along Coyote Ridge to the lake and from 8020 Road down Mitchell-Gold Ridge.
On the north side of the fire, crews are looking for additional opportunities to build control lines and slow the fire’s movement south. Firefighters are working to connect Slide Ridge with Mud Lake on the Entiat River and have completed the primary containment line along 6300 Road.
Crews have also been working from the Chiwawa River near Alder Creek toward Tyee Ridge and are holding increased fire activity north of 6300 Road near Meadow Creek.
Hotshot crews are evaluating whether they can slow the fire south of Chickamin Creek and connect containment lines with the Minnow Ridge fire footprint. Crews are also extending lines along 6200 Road and 6104 Road toward the Cougar Fire footprint, while secondary lines are being opened along 6200 Road from Beaver Ridge to Loop Spur.
The Tyee Ridge line is also being reopened to strengthen the connection with the Cougar Fire footprint.
