The new Timberland Regional Library (TRL) in Randle remains on track to open by the end of the year, the agency said in an update Thursday.

According to TRL, the Mountain View Library will span 3,400 square feet with an open concept on a 1-acre site and should be completed by December. The facility broke ground on April 4.

"There's been a lot going on at the new library building. Every day as I go by, I look to see what's new: trenching, foundation, and walls laid out on the ground," Judi Brummett, Mountain View Library manager, said in a video update.

When completed, the project will include a drive-thru window, expanded access hours and space for large programs or events. The library will be located at 10111 US Highway 12.

More information and ongoing updates on the project can be found on the New Mountain View Library Page at trl.org.

The Timberland Regional Library covers an area of 7,000 miles in five counties. This includes libraries in Centralia, Chehalis, Oakville, Packwood, Tenino, Tumwater, Winlock and Yelm, among other cities.

In February, TRL approved a contract with Schwiesow Construction, of Centralia, to construct the facility, which was designed by Aetta Architects.

“The East Lewis County library building is a testament to TRL’s commitment to provide modern, accessible and innovative library services to the communities within their district and marks a historic moment as it is the first brand new library building to be erected in the region in two decades,” TRL stated in a news release at the time.
