Next Operation Adoption set for March 8 at Veterans Memorial Museum in Chehalis

Organizers seeks local vendors; Rochester rescue to host meet-and-greet adoption event this weekend

Following the first Operation Adoption event — a new quarterly pet adoption event hosted at Chehalis’ Veterans Memorial Museum — last December, the second event will be held Saturday, March 8.

“Please contact us if you are interested in being a vendor at this event,” the museum stated in a social media post.

More information, including the event’s time, will be announced later.

Rochester’s Red Rose Animal Rescue, which was involved with the first Operation Adoption event, will host a meet-and-greet adoption event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, in Centralia.

Those interested in attending the meet and greet must submit an application online at https://tinyurl.com/ywu5a5nf.

Once applications are received, Red Rose Animal Rescue will provide applicants with the adoption coordinator’s address in Centralia for the event. Visit the event’s Facebook page at https://tinyurl.com/753yrwku to see which animals will be available.

All animals available for adoption have been fixed, dewormed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and microchipped.

Operation Adoption is the brainchild of Kristi Popenoe, a peer counselor at Veterans Journey Forward, a nonprofit focused on helping veterans with counseling and navigating benefits that operates out of the museum.

During December’s event, Popenoe partnered with Red Rose Animal Rescue and Feisty Felines feral cat rescue, which brought cats and dogs available for adoptions.

Vendors at December’s event included Lunabones Barkery, Doggie Designs Pet Grooming, Best Paw Forward dog training, Totally Pawsome, Doodle Creations and the Pacific NW Pet Center.

Vendors and businesses interested in being involved with the March 8 Operation Adoption event can reach out to Veterans Journey Forward at 360-740-8875 or info@veteransjourneyforward.org to learn how to get involved.

The Veterans Memorial Museum is located at 100 SW Veterans Way in Chehalis.
