No injuries were reported in a fire that damaged an outbuilding of DS Creative Creations on the corner of Sergeant and North Military roads in Winlock on Monday.
Firefighters with Lewis County Fire District 15 were dispatched to the fire at 3 p.m. on Monday, at which time flames and heavy smoke were reported. The fire in the outbuilding, which housed a kiln, was threatening the primary residence on the property, according to District 15 Chief Rich Underdahl.
The homeowners were outside trying to extinguish the fire with a hose when crews arrived.
With the homeowners’ help, crews were able to quickly knock down the fire, which was fully extinguished as of 4 p.m. on Monday.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
