Law enforcement officials are still investigating a potential double homicide after two bodies were found inside a Winlock residence late Tuesday night.

As of Friday afternoon, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, which is leading the investigation, has not announced any new information since releasing a brief news release on Wednesday afternoon.

Officials with the Washington State Patrol, the Winlock Police Department, the Lewis County Coroner’s Office and the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office remained at the scene into the late afternoon on Wednesday, collecting evidence and removing the bodies from a mobile home on Byham Road.

Officials confirmed to The Chronicle the case is being investigated as a homicide.

Officers with the Winlock Police Department were dispatched to a request for a welfare check on an individual at a residence in the 400 block of Byham Road in Winlock shortly after 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25, an officer told a Chronicle reporter at the scene Wednesday.

“After further investigation, forced entry was made into the residence and two deceased individuals were found inside,” the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office stated Wednesday afternoon in a news release. “The Winlock Police Department requested the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office’s assistance with the investigation.”

Officers reportedly found the bodies sometime after midnight.

On Wednesday afternoon, the area remained taped off as investigators worked at the scene.

“The case remains active and due to the nature of the investigation, no further information is being released at this time,” the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office stated in the news release.

“Autopsies will be completed and information about the decedents, to include cause and manner of death, will be released by the Lewis County Coroner’s Office,” the sheriff’s office stated.

The Chronicle asked the sheriff’s office and coroner’s office if there were any new details to release on Friday, but no updates were provided.
