Northwest Christian holds its own in loss to Tenino

The Northwest Christian volleyball team went toe to toe with Tenino in a 3-1 home loss on Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Northwest Christian made an early statement with a dominant first-set victory 25-13. Tenino knotted the set score at one apiece by taking set two 25-19, and the Beavers squeaked past the Wolverines 25-23 in set three before closing the door in the fourth 25-21.

“It was a really good fight on both sides of the net. We had some great kills and aces, and I loved how aggressive we were at some points,” Northwest Christian co-head coach Sarah Barnard said. “Tonight showed us some areas where we can grow to prepare for the postseason.”

Addy Hentges and Ashlynn Hutchings were both on fire swinging on Wednesday, as Hentges led the Wolverines with 13 kills and Hutchings provided 10 kills. Jess Collins logged 29 assists and five aces, and Rileigh Frost provided a boost from the service line with seven aces. 

Northwest Christian (10-4, 5-0 Sea-Tac League) will host Concordia Christian Academy on Tuesday, Oct. 13 in its penultimate home game of the regular season. Tenino (6-5, 3-1 Evergreen) will look to win its fourth straight game when it hosts Bush in a non-league matchup on Thursday, Oct. 8.
