Adna shortstop Tieander Olson posted a signature moment on Thursday afternoon, hitting a game-winning two-run home run in the top of the seventh to beat Yelm 7-5 on the road in a non-league contest.
After Hadleigh Gerard worked a one-out walk, Olson needed just two pitches to deposit a pitch off Tornado’s starter Leticea Romo to break a 5-5 tie. Pirates starter Charlie Myers, a Wagner recruit, worked around a leadoff single to retire the side. Myers finished a complete game in the circle with four strikeouts.
Yelm grabbed the lead with a five-run third, only for Adna to answer back with four in the fourth. Khloe Hunt roped an RBI double, Kimber Huber notched a run-scoring single, Lena McCloskey stole home and Gerard tied the game with an RBI two-bagger.
Alyssa Carroll paced the Pirates with three hits and Huber added two hits. They will take on Toledo in a non-league game on Saturday afternoon.
