Former W.F. West standout wide receiver Andy Olson just wrapped up his third season as the head coach of the AFL’s Spokane Shock with a first-round playoff loss to the San Jose SabereCats on Saturday.

The Shock fell behind 31-0 in the second quarter before finally getting on the scoreboard and eventually losing 55-28 to the best team in the National Conference Pacific Division. Spokane finished the regular season on a five-game winning streak and ends 2014 with an 11-8 record.

Spokane advanced to the National Conference championship game last season after missing the playoffs narrowly in Olson’s first year as coach. The former Bearcat has a 36-21 as the shot-caller for the Shock.

Olson graduated from W.F. West High School in 2001 and went on to become Western Washington University’s all-time leader in touchdown catches, receptions and receiving yardage.

Olson played two years in the af2 (Arena Football’s minor-league system) for Spokane before eventually becoming the Shock’s offensive coordinator in 2011 and then the team’s head coach in 2012.
