The Onalaska girls basketball team travelled north to Lynden on Tuesday, when they lost to Lynden Christian 71-51 in its first game of the year.

Onalaska was able to bounce back after a tough first quarter, scoring 20 points in the second to enter the locker room down six.

Seton Catholic responded by winning the third 20-6 to rebuild its lead, and though the Loggers played better in the fourth, they weren’t able to make a dent into the deficit.

Onalaska coach Alana Olson was still proud of how her team battled against a quality opponent.

“Tonight was a great test for our team,” Onalaska coach Alana Olson said. “The effort and energy was where it needed to be. This was a great building block for what we want to accomplish this year.”

Kaiyah Sandridge scored 13 points to lead the Onalaska offense, while Emalie Jacoby added 12 and Renzy Marshall tallied 11. Leah Hamilton also nearly hit double-figures with eight.

Onalaska (0-1) will return home for its home opener on Thursday against Rainier.
