Tiffany Pannkuk, a sophomore at Onalaska High School, served as a page in the Washington state Senate during the sixth week of the session.

Pannkuk was sponsored by state Sen. John Braun, R-Centralia, and was one of 21 students who served the Senate during the week.

“I had the pleasure of having Tiffany as my page this week and she did an outstanding job,” Braun said in a statement. “I am glad she was able to have this experience and learn more about the legislative process.”

The Senate page program provides students ages 14 to 17 a hands-on chance to learn how state government works. During their week at the Capitol, students receive a first-hand look at the legislative process and have the opportunity to explore the Capitol campus by delivering papers for Senate staff.

As part of the program, pages attend Page School and participate in mock committees.

Pannkuk said her favorite part of the experience was serving as a page on the Senate floor.

“I wanted to become a page to gain more experience for myself personally as well as learn more about the legislative process because I find it important to understand,” Pannkuk said.

In her free time, Pannkuk enjoys reading and writing, and enjoys cheering at her school. Tiffany’s parents are Jean and Curtis Pannkuk, of Chehalis.
