In the second year of the Loggers boys soccer program, they came away with their second win in program history on Wednesday night. Behind a goal and two assists from Adrian Garcia, Onalaska thumped Stevenson 4-0 in a 1A Trico contest in Onalaska.
One of two juniors on the roster, Garcia opened the scoring in the 14th minute. He assisted Liam Payne’s goal in the 31st minute to cap a three goal half and found Askel Iverson in the 49th minute to complete the performance.
Kolby Iverson doubled Onalaska’s lead in the first half with a goal in the 16th minute. Its head coach Luis Magana was happy with the victory, but felt his boys left some meat on the bones. The Loggers finished with 25 shots.
“We know we should’ve scored way more goals,” Magana said. “We spent most of the game attacking their defending half and stopped all their few counter attack attempts. We are happy with the win, but we still have to work on many things such as our decision making and other soccer IQ things but that will come with maturity.”
The Loggers (1-3, 1-3 Trico) play at Seton Catholic on Monday.
