Sophia Stellmacher, 14, served as a page in the Washington state House of Representatives for the first week of the 2026 legislative session from Jan. 12 to 16.
Rep. Ed Orcutt of the 20th Legislative District sponsored the Onalaska eighth-grade student, who is homeschooled, a news release from the House of Representatives stated.
Sophia assisted state representatives on the floor of the House of Representatives, made deliveries on the Capitol Campus and supported other state lawmaker offices.
She also participated in Page School, where she learned about state government and the Legislature.
“I really enjoyed getting to visit with Sophia while she was here helping legislators at the Capitol. It was nice to see how interested she was in how the Legislature works and how she sought to learn as much as she could in the short time she was here,” Orcutt, R-Kalama, said. “I really appreciated her enthusiasm as well as all the help she provided while here.”
