A Castle Rock man died following a two-car collision on Ocean Beach Highway in Wahkiakum County Friday, according to a Washington State Patrol (WSP) press memo.

Vance R. Baldwin, 41, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Wahkiakum County Sheriff's Office has notified next of kin.

WSP said it is unknown whether Baldwin was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision, or whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.

According to the press memo, Baldwin was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Aveo eastbound at milepost 41 just before 9:25 p.m. when he crossed the center line and struck a 2015 GMC Savana van traveling westbound.

Troopers said the Aveo came to rest on the westbound shoulder of the road, while the Savana came to rest blocking the westbound lane. Both vehicles were totaled.

The driver of the Savana, Todd D. Wilson, 55, of Cathlamet, was transported to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland.

Two Cathlamet passengers were also hospitalized. Mason D. Wilson, 24, was airlifted to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center. Nicole S. Wilson, 55, was transported to PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center in Longview.

All three were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision, according to WSP.
