One person was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital with burns after a fire in the 100 block of Kruger Road in Onalaska late Monday night destroyed multiple residential structures and several vehicles, according to Lewis County Fire District No. 1 Chief Brad Flexhaug.
The Onalaska fire agency was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 11:39 p.m. As firefighters arrived, they found several fully engulfed structures and several vehicles involved. Multiple explosions occurred, which Flexhaug said were likely vehicle tires, propane tanks and ammunition. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Lewis County Fire District No. 5 from Napavine and Lewis County Fire District No. 8 from Salkum assisted. At 1:18 a.m. Tuesday morning, crews had the fire knocked down. They spent the next several hours mopping up hotspots.
