One person was killed and two adults were displaced after a structure fire in the 100 block of Yetter Lane in a rural area east of Napavine at approximately 11 a.m. Sunday.

Lewis County Fire District 5 was dispatched to an occupied residential structure fire, and, upon arrival, an RV was fully involved and was an untenable space, according to a release from the fire district.

Responding units confirmed that all other occupants were out of the structure and began extinguishment operations. The cause of the fire was still under investigation as of Sunday. The Chronicle contacted the fire department, which had no additional information as of Monday morning.

One of the two displaced adults was transported to a hospital and received assistance from the Red Cross. At this time, the name associated with the fatality is not being released by Lewis County Fire District 5.

Sunday’s fire comes exactly three weeks after another residential structure fire displaced four residents at the same address on Dec. 15. A small auxiliary structure and an RV were fully involved in flames. No injuries were reported in that fire.

Firefighters returned to the site that evening and extinguished it a second time.

Lewis County Fire District 5 confirmed to The Chronicle that the Dec. 15 fire started in the auxiliary structure before moving to the RV but had no further information on the investigation as Chehalis Fire Department handles fire investigations.
