One person was transported to a hospital with injuries after a logging truck struck a passenger car that was turning left on U.S. Highway 12 south of Elma Thursday morning.

Both vehicles were traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 12 when, at mile marker 30, the passenger car slowed to make a left turn and was struck by the logging truck, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).

The logging truck came to a rest on the right shoulder while the passenger car rolled onto its side.

WSP was dispatched to the crash just before 10:25 a.m. on Dec. 15. The roadway was partially blocked for 35 minutes while crews cleared the wreckage.

The passenger in the car, identified by WSP as a 51-year-old Camas man, was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital for medical treatment. No other injuries were reported.

Charges against the driver of the logging truck, identified by WSP as a 54-year-old Aberdeen man, are pending the results of WSP’s investigation.

As of Friday morning, WSP had not determined whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
