Oregon cold case reopened as homicide

A 1993 death initially ruled accidental has been reopened as a homicide case, Gresham police said Thursday.

On July 2, 1993, Gresham Police responded to a house on Overlook Court in southwest Gresham and found 45-year-old Astrid Bridges dead, police said.

The responding officers collected evidence, interviewed Bridges’ family and canvassed the neighborhood. The medical examiner ruled the death accidental.

On Thursday, police said the medical examiner’s office had reexamined the evidence and Bridges’ injuries and reclassified her death as a homicide.

Detectives from Gresham police are investigating her death with assistance from the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office.

“While cold case homicides present unique challenges, I am confident we will be able to get justice for Astrid,” lead detective Tyson Conroy said in a news release.
