An Oregon man and two unidentified passengers died in a plane crash in Montana last Thursday while flying to a campaign rally for former President Donald Trump in Bozeman.

Donald Long Jr., 46, was piloting the plane around 4 p.m. when it crashed into Montana’s Crown Mountain, which is located roughly 20 miles west of Augusta, the Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Officials are awaiting positive identification, using DNA testing, of the other two victims, the sheriff’s office said.

Donald Long Jr., a roofing-company owner, was the father of seven children and lived in Gaston, said his widow, Kimberly Long.

“Donnie’s family was his entire world, and he never missed an event in their lives,” she said. “He exuded joy and love for those around him.”

Kimberly Long said that Donald Long received his pilot’s license and bought his own plane in 2022.

The sheriff’s office has not released a cause for the crash.
