In celebration of Earth Day, volunteers in a work party helped to beautify one of Lewis County’s most scenic access points to the Chehalis River, at the Chehalis River Discovery Trail on Goodrich Road in Centralia.

The Lewis County Stream Team, Lewis County Noxious Weeds, City of Centralia and the Chehalis River Basin Land Trust teamed up to remove over 10 bags of invasive weeds along the river.

This will help benefit the native trees that provide shade and habitat, according to stream team leader Kenna Fosnacht. In an email, Fosnacht said the team thanks the Office of Chehalis Basin, the Lewis Conservation District and the TransAlta Centralia Coal Transition Board for support.
