Drivers on Interstate 5 can expect overnight lane and complete closures for the next several weeks as crews work to repair the Koontz Road overpass.

According to a Monday news release from the Washington state Department of Transportation, the closures are needed to replace damaged concrete and a damaged sign bracket above northbound I-5.

During the full closure of northbound I-5, a detour will be set up onto Exit 68 for West Avery Road, eastbound on U.S. Highway 12 to Jackson Highway and then state Route 508 before being routed back to northbound I-5.

The Koontz Road overpass will remain closed through the end of the year. Here is a list of the days drivers can expect delays or detours overnight:

• From 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 27, to 6 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 29, a lane of northbound I-5 near the Koontz Road overpass at milepost 69.35 will close nightly.

• From 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, to 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 1, northbound lanes of I-5 between Exit 68 and Exit 71 near Napavine will close overnight.

• From 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 2, to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4, WSDOT will close a single lane of northbound I-5 nightly near the Koontz Road overpass at milepost 69.35.
