The Pe Ell girls basketball team has responded to its four-game losing streak with two straight dominant victories.

The Trojans headed to Battle Ground Tuesday and trounced Columbia Adventist 63-24. After a slow first half with some foul trouble, Pe Ell pulled away in the second half. A 22-6 fourth quarter helped the Trojans sprint to the finish line.

“We played our ball in the second half,” Pe Ell head coach Kelsey Lennox said. “We transitioned much better and were more active on both offense and defense. We ended the game the way we wanted to start it, with a 20 or more offensive quarter.”

Maisy King shined for Pe Ell with 15 points and nine rebounds. Karli Phelps scored 14 points, nabbed five steals and dished out four assists. Peyton Zock finished one point shy of a double-double with nine points and 13 boards.

Bailey Cox provided a spark off the bench with seven rebounds and four assists. Tristyn Zock also contributed solid minutes off the bench, pulling down four rebounds, adding four points and grabbing two steals.

Pe Ell (5-7, 3-0 Columbia Valley) has just two more road games of its seven-game road trip, first on Thursday against Three Rivers Christian before finishing it up on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at Naselle. The Trojans return home on Saturday, Jan. 24 against Willapa Valley.
