Pe Ell clinched the 1B Columbia Valley League title in Cathlamet on Tuesday, when the Trojans topped Wahkiakum 58-24.
The Trojans jumped out of the gate quickly, taking a 19-4 lead after one and going into the locker room up 30-7 at the break before continuing to build on their lead in the second half.
“I’m proud of the energy and intensity my girls brought tonight and have been bringing every game,” Pe Ell coach Kelsey Lennox said. “We are playing together as a team, executing our defensive plan, and we have been taking care of the ball better.”
Maisy King and Peyton Zock both posted double-doubles. King tallied 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Zock finished with 12 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists.
Despite being face guarded the entire game, Karli Phelps logged 14 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Madi Engel added six points, Ava King scored four, Ruby Magruder collected three, and Tristyn Zock logged one.
Pe Ell (12-7, 7-0 1B CVL) will wrap up its regular season at home against Columbia Adventist on Thursday. After that, the Trojans will enter the district tournament as the CVL’s No. 1 seed, which will give them a home game against Mary M. Knight, the Coastal’s No. 4 seed, next Tuesday, Feb. 10.
