The Pe Ell girls basketball team wasted no time building a lead on Tuesday against Oakville, and the Trojans never looked back in a 53-34 victory.
“We came out with better energy and got an early jump on them,” Pe Ell coach Kelsey Lennox said.
The Trojans led 16-4 after one and led by 10 at halftime, and they extended the lead to 19 entering the third.
With the win, they now sit at 10-0, but Lennox wants to make sure the Trojans don’t get comfortable.
“We just need to be more consistent with our energy throughout all four quarters,” Lennox said. “We got sloppy at times and that’s gonna hurt us down the road if we don’t clean it up.”
Peyton Zock led Pe Ell with 16 points, 11 rebounds, three blocks, two steals, and two assists, while Karli Phelps scored 14 points, dished out 10 assists, and had five rebounds and two steals.
Emma Kissner added 11 points, eight rebounds, and four assists, and Maisy King scored three points and hauled in 10 rebounds.
Riyah Filitaula led the Acorns with 12 points, and Vivi Cruz scored 11. Ui’lani Siufanua scored four, and no other Acorns scored more than two.
Oakville (6-3, 2-2 1B CVL) will head to Taholah on Wednesday, and Pe Ell (10-0, 3-0 1B CVL) will be at Wahkiakum on Thursday.
