Pe Ell Town Council Approves Police Contract With Morton

Posted

On Tuesday night, the Pe Ell Town Council voted unanimously to approve a new contract with the Morton Police Department to provide police coverage to Pe Ell.  Pe Ell currently does not have a police force and the contract would ensure a police presence in the town.

After councilor Michael Nichols asked about the nature of the contract, the council was told the agreement would largely maintain the status quo of a previous contract under which Pe Ell pays the county to hold individuals who have committed crimes in the town in county jail.

Look for additional details on the contract in an upcoming edition of The Chronicle.
