Pedestrian killed by unknown hit-and-run driver in Packwood

A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run in Packwood Friday morning after he was struck by an unknown driver while walking along U.S. Highway 12, according to the Washington State Patrol. 

Alan D. Sargent, 66, of Puyallup, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Lewis County Coroner’s Office has notified next of kin, according to the state patrol.

The driver and their vehicle are currently unknown. 

According to troopers, the suspect was heading westbound on U.S. 12 near milepost 131 and Skate Creek Road South at about 7:37 a.m. March 13 when their vehicle struck Sargent and fled the scene. 

Sargent was reportedly found dead on the westbound shoulder of the highway. 

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
