The Pe Ell girl’s basketball team won its second straight to move above .500 on Friday, as a late Karli Phelps three lifted the Trojans to a 33-32 win.
Phelps was the Trojans’ (3-1) main source of offense, as she scored 17 points and hit five threes, including the clutch three late. Brookelynn King added six.
Peyton Zock led the team with nine rebounds while scoring four points, and Emma Kissner scored two points, both coming on late free throws to help ice the game.
“Close games like these are tough to win,” Pe Ell coach Kelsey Lennox said. “I'm proud of this group for keeping their heads and not panicking. They listened to us as coaches and executed when they needed to.”
The Trojans are back in action today at Winlock.
