Posted

Scammers are at work again, the Mason County Sheriff's Office announced.

The scammers are posing as deputies. They call unsuspecting residents and demand payment for alleged outstanding warrants.

"Reports have come in from both the city of Shelton and across Mason County," sheriff's office officials said in their announcement.

The sheriff's office asks residents to remember this:

— Law enforcement will never ask for payment of a warrant over the phone or in person.

— If you receive one of these calls, hang up and call 911 to report.

"Help us stop these scams by sharing this message with your friends and family," the announcement reads.
