The pilot of a single-engine airplane experienced mechanical difficulties Wednesday and crashed into Yale Lake in northeastern Clark County, officials said.

The pilot, a 76-year-old man, was the only person aboard and was able to escape the plane before it sank. He was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries, a news release from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office said.

Local boaters rescued the pilot, the news release said.

The Federal Aviation Administration has been notified, the sheriff’s office said, and the incident is under investigation.
