The City of Centralia Parks and Recreation Department will temporarily close the Pioneer fields at Fort Borst Park from 7 a.m. on Friday, June 27, through 5 p.m. on Monday, July 14.
Contractors will be on site June 27 through June 30 performing aeration, sanding and seeding. After this work is completed, the fields must remain vacant to allow the new grass seed to properly germinate, according to a department news release.
This project is a collaborative effort with the Centralia Youth Soccer organization as part of ongoing improvements to revitalize the fields.
During this time, community members are encouraged to not enter the fields. Stevens Field, located behind Wheeler Field, is available for soccer use.
