Nine Adna Pirates, including five in double figures, contributed to the boys basketball team’s highest scoring game since Jan. 19, 2024, as they cruised past Mossyrock 85-41 Friday night at home.
The Pirates shot an impressive 58% on field goals inside the 3-point arc and 50.8% overall in a contest in which they led early and never took their foot off the gas pedal. Adna led 28-9 through the first eight minutes and 48-18 at halftime.
Kaden Richardson led all scorers with 15 points for Adna, and Trevin Salme tallied 14. Landen Cline and Grayson Humphrey each logged 13 points, and Jackson Knittle rounded out the double-digit scorers with a dozen. James Greenwood added seven, Kannen Kephart scored five, and Oly Eixenberger and Trent Kephart each tacked on three.
Mossyrock’s offense, which shot just over 28% from the floor, found some life in the third quarter with 14 points but was otherwise restricted to nine points in each of the other three quarters. The Vikings were paced by Shaun Fry’s 14 points, while Aylan Bigbee contributed eight and Ethan Johnson totaled seven. Blue Sievers and Colby Cournyer added five apiece.
Adna (7-2, 5-0 Central 2B League) is back in the win column after losing two straight to end its six-game win streak that opened the season. The Pirates will head to Randle to face Morton-White Pass (0-7, 0-5 C2BL) on Tuesday, Jan. 6 for the first of five straight road C2BL games before a blockbuster showdown at Napavine next Saturday.
Mossyrock (4-7, 3-6 C2BL) has lost four of its last five contests and will look to heat back up against Toutle Lake on Thursday, Jan. 8 at home.
