Pirates blanked by Chinooks in district semifinal

The Adna soccer team’s postseason meet-up with Kalama went better than the regular-season matchup in terms of goals allowed, but the end result was the same in a 5-0 loss in the semifinals of the 2B District 4 Tournament on the Chinooks’ home turf.

“It was a really great match,” Adna coach Patrick Richardson said, admitting that the Chinooks currently represent Goliath in the Central 2B League. “It’s hard to get excited over a 5-0 loss, but we played very well against that Kalama team.”

Bridgette Hollifield scored four of the goals for the Chinooks, starting from the penalty spot in the 10th minute, scoring again in the 27th, and adding two more after halftime.

Kalama outshot Adna 21-4 on the evening.

“I haven’t seen shots that hard in the 2Bs in awhile,” Richardson said. “Just some lasers that no keeper in the league could have saved.”

Adna keeper Jordanne Moon did come up with 16 saves, standing tall as best she could against the onslaught.

The Pirates will get one more shot to punch a State bid, facing off against rival Napavine at 10 a.m., Saturday in Tenino.
