Adna held off a furious fourth-quarter rally from Onalaska on Wednesday, staving off the Loggers’ comeback attempt to hold on for a 53-48 victory in a non-league matchup.
The Pirates led 17-7 after one and eventually led 40-24 going into the fourth, but the Loggers put up 24 in the final frame to close the gap.
“I'm very proud of our resilience tonight,” Onalaska coach Alana Olson said. “We struggled at times, especially in the third quarter, but the team rallied together and battled back in the fourth … When we are playing with that type of energy, it's really exciting to see what we can accomplish. Now we have to play with that intensity for four quarters.”
McKenna Torrey led the Pirates with a game-high 23 points, Rhylee Beebe scored 15, and Alyssa Carroll added eight, and Madi Otten tallied seven.
Emalie Jacoby led the Loggers with 20, and Renzy Marshall logged 15 points of her own. Kaiyah Sandridge scored four, and Leighton Underhill, Randi Haight, and Leah Hamilton each posted three.
Both teams will be back in action on Friday. Adna (2-1) will head to Tumwater, and Onalaska (1-2) will host Forks.
