The top-ranked Adna volleyball team remained perfect on the season with a sweep of Toledo on Thursday, winning 25-18, 25-20, 27-25.

Toledo capitalized on several Adna errors to keep the game close, but the Pirates were able to hold the Riverhawks off to move to 6-0 (1-0 C2BL).

“Tonight, we battled ourselves most of the night, and we were our own worst enemy,” Adna coach Wendie Dotson said. “We will refocus to get back on track and play our game.”

Kendall Humphrey tallied 11 kills, eight digs, three aces and a block, Charissa Schierman had nine digs, five assists, three aces, two kills and a block and Karsyn Freeman recorded eight kills, six digs and two aces.

Gaby Guard was excellent setting the ball, tallying 18 assists, and she also had six digs and two kills. Danika Hallom had five kills, four digs and an ace, while Bailey Chapman had three digs and two blocks.

Jaylee Humphrey was perfect from the service line and had three digs.

While the Riverhawks (3-5, 0-1 C2BL) didn’t come away with the win, coach Kelli Larson was pleased with how aggressively they played throughout the match, saying they came in with a confident mindset.

Jordynne Hensley led the Riverhawk offense with seven kills, and Stefa Arceo-Hansen tallied six along with two assists. Whitney Olson had 19 assists and four aces, and Eden Jones was also excellent serving, notching three aces.

Both teams are back in action on Tuesday, as the Pirates will look to remain undefeated when they head to Kalama, and the Riverhawks will look to snap a three-game skid at Rainier.
