The Adna girls basketball team had a massive fourth quarter on Saturday, pulling away to top Annie Wright 61-46.
The Pirates got off to a quick start, outscoring the Gators 12-2 in the first quarter, but the lead shrunk to just four entering the fourth. Adna scored 22 points in the final frame.
“This was a quality win,” Adna coach Chris Bannish said. “Our non-league schedule is set to put us in games like this to make us better.”
Danika Hallom led the Pirates in scoring with 20 points, while McKenna Torrey added 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
“They played really well today and controlled the offense well,” Bannish said.
Karsyn Freeman was excellent all-around, scoring 17 points while adding six rebounds, five steals, and four assists. Kendall Humphrey led the Pirates on the glass with 10 rebounds, and she also scored four points. Bailey Chapman scored five.
Adna (2-0) will host another 1A school on Wednesday when Seton Catholic comes to town.
