In a 2025 state championship rematch, the No. 7 Adna High School girls basketball team couldn’t overcome a double digit deficit after the first quarter and eventually fell to No. 2 Northwest Christian Colbert 57-50 on Saturday night at Cheney High School.

The reigning Class 2B runners-up will now have to beat No. 10 Colfax on Wednesday morning in the Round of 12 to guarantee at least two more games. Adna (20-5) was held to six points in the first eight minutes on just two field goals.

It rallied in the third with a 21-point outburst to trail by two possessions. The Crusaders made just enough shots in the fourth to hold on.

“We proved in the second half we are a contender next week,” Pirates head coach Chris Bannish said. “We can no longer wait until the second quarter to wake up or we won’t be in long.”

Alyssa Carroll paced Adna with a team-best 20 points and nine rebounds while McKenna Torrey added 14 points and Rhylee Beebe chipped in 12. NWC triumphed despite going 6-of-18 from the free throw line, but shot five percentage points better than Adna.
