Travelers who use northbound Interstate 5 near the Koontz Road overpass in Lewis County should plan for overnight delays, the Washington state Department of Transportation (WSDOT) warned in a news release.

Starting Monday, June 29, WSDOT’s contractor Stellar J. Corporation will close a single lane of northbound I-5 to remove temporary bridge supports used during recent repair work on the Koontz Road overpass near Napavine.

This work is part of an ongoing project to repair damage caused when an oversized load struck the overpass in June 2024. Earlier this year, crews replaced the damaged bridge girder. Crews will now remove the temporary supports used during construction.

Travelers can expect:

• From 8 p.m., Monday, June 29, to 6 a.m., Tuesday, June 30, the right lane of northbound I-5 near the Koontz Road overpass between mileposts 69 and 70 will close overnight.
