Plants, Pelts and Antlers: Free Children’s Activity Set for Seminary Hill Natural Area

Posted

A free children’s nature activity will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 15, at the Seminary Hill Natural Area in Centralia.

Jessica Homyack, a local wildlife biologist, will be doing a kid-friendly presentation about wildlife that can be found in the natural area. There will also be hands-on items such as pelts and antlers for kids to investigate.

The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Seminary Hill Natural Area.

“Learn about your natural environment and explore the trails with fun hands-on activities appropriate for the whole family!” organizers wrote in a news release.

The event will be organized by Susannah Berry, a local Girl Scout, as a part of her Gold Award project. She will offer a few activities that promote good stewardship for the natural environment.

After the presentation, families can explore the natural area with scavenger hunts appropriate for all ages. Kids can also complete a fun nature art project, which allows them to make creative designs using local plants that can be found in the natural area.

All of the activities will be free, and snacks will be provided at the event.

Attendees should meet at the parking lot to the Seminary Hill Natural Area at the corner of East Locust Street and Barner Drive in Centralia.
