Police in Cowlitz County stop woman from jumping off bridge

The Kelso Police Department says they stopped a person from attempting to jump off the Cowlitz Way Bridge on Wednesday.

The incident occurred at about 3:28 p.m., according to a Kelso police report, when officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Cowlitz Way, on the Peter Crawford Bridge, also known as the Cowlitz Way Bridge.

Multiple people called regarding a woman climbing over the bridge railing and feared she was going to jump off the structure, the notice states.

A Kelso police officer was able to grab the woman, even though she attempted to push him away. After another officer arrived, they were able to bring her onto the sidewalk.



The department did not release the woman's name.
