Portland police officers found a dead man in a downtown parking lot in the 300 block of Southwest 3rd Avenue just before 4:30 a.m. on Sunday. They are investigating his death as a homicide.
Evidence suggests the man was shot, the bureau said in a news release, though the medical examiner has yet to confirm his cause of death.
Officers closed Southwest Harvey Milk Street between Southwest 3rd and 5th avenues on Sunday morning while they investigated.
Police are asking anyone with information about the death to contact homicidetips@police.portlandoregon.gov or call (503) 823-0479.
Officers found the suspected homicide victim a couple of hours after an early morning shooting in the Pearl District, less than a mile away, which injured two people.
This is the 39th suspected homicide of the year in Portland. Police had recorded 64 homicides by the same time in 2024.
