The holidays are here, and so is another massive Powerball jackpot.
After no one won the top prize for the Monday, Dec. 1, drawing, the jackpot has now reached $775 million, making it the eighth-largest in the game’s history and the second-largest Powerball jackpot this year.
If it rolled again Wednesday night, the jackpot was expected to approach, if not cross, the $800 million mark. Results were not available before press time.
Despite no jackpot winner, Washington players are still unwrapping big wins, including a $50,000 winning ticket that was sold in Chehalis during the Wednesday, Nov. 26, drawing. Powerball drawings take place at 7:59 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, with ticket sales available until 6:45 p.m. on the day of the draw.
Sales for the next drawing resume the same day at 6:46 p.m. Powerball also offers several add-on features, including Double Play for $1, a second-chance drawing at 8:30 p.m. with the chance to win up to $10 million, and Power Play for $1, which offers players the opportunity to multiply their non-jackpot winnings based on the Power Play multiplier randomly chosen at draw time.
Tickets are available for purchase at Washington’s Lottery retail locations throughout the state. Players can find Washington’s Lottery retail locations at https://walottery.com/WhereToPlay/default.aspx.
Powerball is a national lottery game. Each play is $2. Players pick five numbers between one and 69, and one Powerball number between one and 26. Alternatively, players may use Quick Pick by letting the computer select their numbers. With nine winning ball combinations, the more numbers that match those drawn, the more a player will win.
Since 1982, Washington’s Lottery has generated more than $5.3 billion to support several important state programs. The lottery’s primary beneficiary is the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account (WOPA), which provides much-needed funding for programs including early childhood education, the WA Grant and College Bound program, Washington Award for Vocational Excellence, GET Ready for Math and Science scholarships, and more.
