The Pe Ell/Willapa Valley baseball team picked up a pair of close wins over Forks on Tuesday, winning two ends of a doubleheader 6-5 and 4-3.

After allowing a run in the top of the first of Game 1, PWV took the lead with two in the second, and it added four more runs across the fifth and sixth to push the advantage to 6-1.

Forks made it very interesting in the seventh, plating four runs to get within one, but Max Jarvis was able to strand the tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position to seal the win.

Jarvis pitched the final two innings, and he also collected three hits and drove in a run at the plate. Kash Blain added two hits in four trips to the plate, and Braden Neva, Brody Magruder, and Liam Lennox each drove in a run.

Mauricio Morales pitched the first five innings, allowing four hits and one earned run while walking three and striking out five.

The Spartans were able to take the lead with two runs in the seventh inning of Game 2, but the Titans responded with two runs of their own, including a walk-off single from Morales.

Just three batters prior, Magruder scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at three.

Morales, Jarvis, and Deacon Green collected PWV’s three RBIs in the win, while Blain allowed just one hit and an unearned run while walking two and striking out 10 in the victory.

PWV (6-3, 2-2 P2BL) will head to Adna on Monday.
