The Pe Ell-Willapa Valley football team earned the program’s first ever road win over Forks on Friday night, when the Titans defeated the Spartans 34-9.
“We came a long way up here,” PWV coach John Peterson said. “For our kids to get a win up here, I was so pleased with them and so happy for them.”
Blane King led the way for the Titan offense, as he totaled 260 total yards, including 202 on the ground, and he scored an 89-yard rushing touchdown that opened the scoring.
“Blane was so good, it was crazy,” Peterson said. “He’s so fast. Blane ran all over them.”
Eddie Clements and Brody Ritzman added rushing touchdowns before Forks got on the board with a safety, but Clements scored again to extend the PWV lead to 28-2 in the third.
After Forks got its first offensive score of the game, Spud Swogger also hit paydirt to re-extend the Titans lead. Lucas Lusk added 59 yards on 12 carries.
By the end of the night, the Titans had logged nearly 400 total yards of offense.
Peterson did mention that there are still some things to clean up, including the penalties (the Titans were called for 13), but he is overall pleased with the performance.
PWV (6-1, 3-0 C2BL West) will look to stay unbeaten next Friday, when it heads to Napavine. The Titans will be looking for their first win over the Tigers since 2015.
