When Rainier and Mossyrock met for the first time this season on Dec. 6, the Mountaineers stormed out of the gate to a 43-point lead in the first half.
The Mountaineers got out to another quick start in the second meeting on Tuesday, and they rode that to a 74-44 win.
This time around, it was just the first quarter that was all Mountaineers, as they led 25-3 after one. Mossyrock rebounded with 17 points in the second quarter, but Rainier scored 34 points in the second half to extend its lead.
Peyton Sheaffer led the Mountaineers with 23 points, while Jake Meldrum scored 18 and Jimmy Meldrum tallied 14. Hunter Howell also hit double-figures, scoring 11.
Shaun Fry led the Vikings with 15, while Ethan Johnson scored nine. Kevin Mitchell scored eight, and Colby Cournyer finished with seven.
Mossyrock (2-8, 2-8 C2BL) will hit the road to face Napavine on Thursday, and Rainier (9-4, 6-4 C2BL) will head to Toutle Lake on Saturday.
