Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, D-Washougal, held a career and resource fair for veterans Tuesday at Clark College in Vancouver.
According to a news release from Gluesenkamp Perez, the event attracted more than 200 attendees and included 55 veterans service organizations, employers and other vendors. Staff members from Gluesenkamp Perez’s office were on hand to help connect veterans to resources ahead of Veterans Day.
“It’s our responsibility to ensure our nation’s heroes are well-supported after returning home,” Gluesenkamp Perez said in a statement. “I’m so glad we could help connect Southwest Washington veterans and their families to the resources, jobs, and benefits they deserve. I sincerely appreciate all the veterans who stopped by this event, as well as Clark College and community organizations who joined together to support our local heroes.”
Gluesenkamp Perez encouraged veterans who need assistance to contact the congresswoman’s office via phone 360-695-6292, online at gluesenkampperez.house.gov/contact, or in person at 1053 Officers Row in Vancouver.
“We are grateful for the collaborative effort with Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez and the community organizations,” Donna Larson, Clark College’s Veterans Center of Excellence associate director, said in a statement. “This Career and Resource Fair is a valuable opportunity for our Southwest Washington veterans and their families to connect with local organizations and employers, explore employment options, and receive essential support for veterans’ benefits.”
