Riverhawks grind out non-league win

Things weren’t the prettiest the whole afternoon, but the Toledo boys basketball team got the job done Saturday, downing Mount Vernon Christian 59-42 in a non-league matchup.

The Riverhawks (4-1) managed just 22 points in the first half, and totalled 28 turnovers to just 10 assists. But the defense did its job on the other end of the floor, holding the Hurricanes to just four points in the first quarter to give Toledo a head start.

Kaven Winters dropped 22 points to lead all scorers. Cooper Fallon added 10 points and seven rebounds, while Rogan Stanley posted nine points and led the Riverhawks with eight rebounds.
