Riverhawks romp over Mules

The Toledo football team poured in four touchdowns in quick succession Friday, drubbing Wahkiakum 55-6 for head coach Mike Christensen’s 50th win in charge in Cheese Town.

“Our guys were fired up and physically ready to go,” Christensen said. “We’ve been working hard with a young group that’s starting to understand the physicality it takes to play football. We played physically today, and that’s one thing I’m proud of.”

Between a combination of defensive stops, a takeaway and a couple failed fake punts, the Riverhawks (4-0) took over inside the Wahkiakum 40-yard line on all four of their first-quarter possessions, which all ended in the end zone.

Eli Weeks started the scoring with a 20-yard run, and Ethen Carver made it 14-0 with a 35-yard score. Weeks hit Trevin Gale for a 25-yard pass for the third touchdown, and Gale trotted in from 5 yards out to push the lead to 28-0 before the teams switched ends of the field.

Carver hit paydirt once more and finished with 113 yards on 14 runs. Weeks ran for 56 yards and passed for 43 on three completions, all three of which went to Gale.

Rohan Feigenbaum ran in a 57-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to cap Toledo’s scoring.

The Riverhawks will open SWW 2B South play next week on the road at Onalaska.
