The Toledo girls basketball team earned its first win of 2024 on Friday, as the Riverhawks topped Kalama 49-31.

The Riverhawks (8-5, 2-4 C2BL) went into halftime trailing by seven, but the defense stepped up in the second half. Kalama scored just four points after halftime, allowing Toledo to take the lead and build upon it.

Ellie Fallon led the Riverhawks with 14 points, while Ryah Stanley and Hope Gould added 11 each and Peyton Holter tallied seven.

Kailea Lairson had the tough task of guarding Kalama’s Aubrey Doerty. After Doerty scored nine points in the second quarter, Lairson held her scoreless for the remainder of the game. She also led Toledo with eight rebounds.

Toledo took advantage of their chances at the line, as they shot 18 for 32 from the charity stripe, while the Chinooks shot just 5 for 14.

The Riverhawks are back on the road on Tuesday, when they’ll head to Winlock for another league matchup.
