Riverhawks surge past T-Wolves at Moda

The path to get there might not have been the prettiest, but the Toledo boys basketball team got the result it wanted on Friday at the Moda Center in Portland, beating Morton-White Pass 40-34 in come-from-behind fashion.

Not much went in for either side all afternoon long, with the two sides combining for just 10 points in the first quarter, but the T-Wolves led 29-26 going into the final frame. From there, though the Riverhawks took charge, finishing on a 14-5 run to end it.

Kaven Winters scored 15 points to lead Toledo, with Rogan Stanley right behind him at 12 points and eight rebounds. Trevin Gale added nine points, and Cooper Fallon had a team-high nine boards and five assists.

Tony Belgiorno led all scorers with 18 points for the T-Wolves and Judah Kelly scored 12, but the rest of the MWP lineup combined for just four all game long.

Toledo will come back to Washington and host Lake Quinault on Wednesday. MWP will go to Naselle on Thursday.
